International admissions at ZJU: routes, CSCA and documents

How undergraduate, master’s and doctoral applications differ, with dated 2026 reference points from the official guides.

Start with the right guide

ZJU’s International College publishes separate 2026 application guides for undergraduate, master’s and doctoral study, plus language/non-degree routes. Hub: iczu.zju.edu.cn/admissionsen. Online system: intlstudent.zju.edu.cn.

Undergraduate (2026 reference)

  • Typical window: 1 Dec 2025 – 28 Feb 2026 (some majors to 31 May 2026).
  • Age: generally under 25; high-school completion required.
  • CSCA report required for 2026/27 undergraduate intake (see csca.cn).
  • Chinese-taught: HSK (or approved exemption). English-taught: TOEFL/IELTS/other if not a native English speaker.
  • Core uploads include passport bio page, diploma/transcripts, language proof, personal statement (~800 words), two recommendations, CSCA, plus nationality documentation when applicable.
  • Selection often includes video interview after preliminary review; first-year tuition prepayment may be required after pre-admission.

Master’s (2026 reference)

  • Self-funded deadline commonly 28 Feb 2026 (some majors later).
  • CSC Type B deadline listed as 31 Dec 2025 in the published guide—verify live pages.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; personal statement ≥1500 words; two academic recommendations.
  • Many applicants contact supervisors first; some programmes require the 2026 provisional acceptance form.

Doctoral (2026 reference)

  • Master’s degree required; age typically under 40 (flexible cases exist).
  • Supervisor search and provisional acceptance are often central.
  • Scholarship calendars (CSC A/B, China Studies fellowship, ZJE Hai, ISM, optical engineering awards, etc.) can differ from self-funded deadlines.

Deadlines above are published 2026-cycle references. If you are reading this after those dates, use them only to understand the process shape—open the portal for the next intake. ZJU states unpaid applications are invalid and that emailed/posted paper packets are not processed.
